There is nothing quite like the journey of seeing something that inspires you enough to point your camera at it. Of then trying to express that in paint. And then finally having another human being actually want to place that image on the wall of their home.

Colours, creatures, characters

Living in the Lakes after a sabbatical in South-east Asia has made me realise the importance of being creative. We inhabit our tiny spaces for a brief flash and then we are gone but what we leave behind is testament to what we found important in those moments.

Colours, creatures and characters.

And the joy of committing the colourful characters of the creatures we love is a joy beyond words.

The lesson to learn – no painting is going to turn out exactly as you had planned! They develop wilful little spirits of their own, they twist the brush in your hand to do their own thing. Just accept what has happened, forget the plan and love the result.
